Sedation Dentistry
What Is Sedation Dentistry and How Can It Help Me?
Sedation Gives You Relief From Anxiety
One of the most common obstacles keeping patients from seeking dental care is anxiety. Sedation dentistry addresses that concern immediately.
Sedation Helps the Body Relax
Is it hard for you or your child to stay still in the dental chair? Do you struggle with involuntary motions? We use sedation dentistry to fully relax your body before dental care.
Sedation Gives You Peace of Mind
For some patients, just the idea of a dentistry visit can lead to stress. Knowing that you have options in place to keep you calm for your procedure can give you peace of mind leading up to and during treatment.
What About Dental Discomfort?
/
Think of sedation as a method to calm your mind and body. It doesn't help with pain relief, but don't stress—we can handle that concern too. Our dentist can combine your sedation method with anesthesia for virtually pain-free care.

Nitrous Oxide
For Moderate Relaxation
Both adult and pediatric dental patients can be eligible for nitrous oxide sedation. With nitrous oxide, we will safely administer a gas through a nose mask. After the mask is removed, the nitrous oxide gas is quickly flushed out of your body.
Often referred to as "laughing gas," this option will make you feel fully at ease. It can also be adjusted as needed, ensuring you're completely comfortable in the dentist's chair.
Oral Conscious Sedation
For Deeper Relaxation
We offer this option for adult dental patients only. Using a prescription medication in pill form, this method provides a deeper state of relaxation than nitrous oxide.
Patients will take their medication before they visit our office or once they've arrived. This longer-lasting method requires that someone drive you to and from our Henderson office.
Which Dental Procedures Can Sedation Make More Relaxing?
The beauty of sedation dentistry is that it can open up a variety of possibilities for both adult and pediatric patients. Our dentist uses it to help patients improve the health and appearance of their smile with comprehensive procedures like:
- Cleanings and Exams
- Dental Bridges
- Dental Crowns
- Dentures
- Root Canal Therapy
- Veneers
How We Ensure Your Safety During Procedures Paired With Sedation Dentistry
Before we can begin your dentistry procedure, Dr. Osga will make sure that you're a good candidate for sedation. Typically, that involves inviting you to our Henderson dental office for a consultation.
There, our dentist will help you explore your candidacy. He will likely ask questions about your health, any conditions you may have, and the medications you take. Once all the relevant factors have been addressed, he'll be able to let you know if sedation is a good option for you or your child.
Curious about your options? The best way to find out if sedation dentistry is right for you is to request a consultation at our Henderson, NV, dental practice.

First and foremost the Friendly Staff!
Thank you so much for making a stressful situation enjoyable!
I actually look forward to my next visit which is weird to say due to having to get a tooth pulled.
Is Sedation Dentistry Covered by Insurance?
Insurance companies tend to view sedation as an optional expense. As a result, they will likely not cover any portion of the costs of your sedation. However, they may still help with the costs of any medically necessary procedures, like cleanings or a dental crown.
