Dental Crowns
Common Crown Uses
Cosmetic Upgrades
If you have a natural tooth that is deeply stained, cracked, or otherwise imperfect, Dr. Osga can cover that tooth with a porcelain crown, resulting in a brighter, more complete smile. Dr. Osga also offers porcelain veneers, which can be used to achieve similar results in some cases.
After Root Canal Therapy
Perhaps the most common use of dental crowns is to protect teeth that have been treated with root canal therapy. If you have an infected tooth, Dr. Osga can perform a root canal to remove the infected tissue from the tooth, and then he will place a crown to keep the tooth strong and healthy.
Replace Missing Teeth
If you have lost a natural tooth, Dr. Osga can place a dental implant at his office in Henderson, NV. Once the implant has integrated with the jawbone, he can attach a crown to the implant. Dr. Osga is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Consider an Implant-Supported Crown
Our Henderson, NV, dentist will do everything he can to preserve your natural tooth; however, extreme decay, damage, or infection may compromise the tooth to the point where it needs to be extracted. If so, an implant-supported crown can replace the tooth.
Our dentist will first have to surgically place a small titanium implant into your jawbone. The implant acts as a tooth root and prevents the jawbone atrophy that comes after losing a tooth. This implant can then support a crown. While a crown may last 10 years or longer, an implant can last for the rest of your life, making it a cost-effective treatment in the long run.

Are crowns covered by insurance?
Your dental insurance coverage will depend on why you are receiving the crown. If you need a crown to protect a damaged tooth, that will likely be partially or fully covered. If you want a crown for purely cosmetic reasons, however, that will not be covered. At Carepoint Dental, we can help you understand your insurance coverage.
What are dental crowns made of?
Historically, crowns have been made of all sorts of materials, including nickel, gold, porcelain, and porcelain-fused-to-metal. At Carepoint Dental, we typically use crowns made of porcelain or advanced materials like IPS e.max®, which is extremely durable and lifelike.
How do I care for my dental crown?
Once your temporary crown has been replaced by your permanent crown, you can care for it the same way you care for your natural teeth. Brush and floss every day and visit our dentist at least twice a year for a regular checkup. Bad habits like biting your nails or chewing on pens can put excessive wear and tear on your crown, so do your best to limit these behaviors.
How long do crowns last?
With proper maintenance, a dental crown can easily remain in place for 10 years or longer. When a crown does break or wear out, replacing it is a relatively simple dental procedure. If you ever have any issues with your crown, give our dentistry practice a call right away. We will do everything we can to meet with you as soon as possible and resolve the issue.I'm Not a Candidate for Dental Crowns Is There Another Treatment I Should Ask About?
If you need to replace numerous teeth or a whole arch, ask our Henderson, NV, dentist about full or partial dentures. Our dentist can discuss the benefits and differences between traditional and implant-supported dentures and determine if you're a good candidate for this restorative dentistry.
If you're missing a few teeth in a row, a bridge may be the right dental treatment for you. We offer both traditional and implant-supported bridges, depending on your needs.
"He really cares"
Wow...what an amazing office, starting with office manager Anna, who greets you by name as soon as you walk in the door. Dr. Osga is super friendly, gentle and very knowledgeable. He takes time to explain everything to you and makes sure you are very comfortable during the whole process. He really cares about customers well-being and doesn't recommend dental work that doesn't benefit customer long term. Whole staff is amazing including dental hygienist Cheyenne, they treat you like a family from the minute you walk. Thank you Dr. Osga & team.
